Course Overview
This course is designed to provide the underpinning skills necessary to successfully understand and deliver all aspects of the work process when handling and recycling waste. The course aims to provide new and existing employees with basic skills and knowledge in a range of areas such as Occupational Health and Safety and good customer service.
New employees, particularly young workers, create the biggest OH&S risk exposure to business. This course is designed to minimise this risk by providing a basic understanding of issues such as manual handling, dealing with emergencies and handling difficult customers. It also covers basic administration tasks, an overview of the recycling industry and workplace communication.
Who should attend?
This course is for people working in recycling, composting, landfill and material recovery (MRF) centres.

Duration
The maximum term to complete the qualification is 12 months but the program can be completed as soon as the required skill level / competencies are achieved.

Funding Assistance
Funding for existing and new workers is available under the Australian Apprenticeships Program and State Government User Choice program. Eligibility for funding is assessed by an Australian Apprenticeships Centre.
