Deemed an ‘Accredited Person’ as per the definition in the ‘Work Near Overhead Power Lines’ Code of Practice 2006

Course Overview

The NSW WorkCover endorsed ‘Work Near Overhead Power Lines’ Code of Practice 2006 establishes the legal framework for people working within defined ‘Approach Distances’ of power lines.

The course will provide you with the necessary technical knowledge to safely work near overhead powerlines, including the skills to:

  • Identify communication, low voltage and high voltage cables;
  • Interpret the ‘Approach Distances’ for work near overhead powerlines;
  • Undertake risk management procedures including Identifying hazards that may be present, and the precautions to be taken, when work is carried out near overhead powerlines;
  • Perform the emergency procedures required in the event of an electrical incident / accident.

Who should attend?

This course is for any person who may be required to work or operate vehicles and equipment near over head power lines

Pre-Requisites

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate

Duration

The course duration is 12 hours, which includes a 4 hour Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) component (delivered externally by St Johns Ambulance, Red Cross or similar) a written and a practical assessment. An annual refresher course, as required by the Code of Practice, is also available. The refresher course duration is 4 hours.
