Certificate IV in Traffic Operations

This is a qualification for those engaged in in traffic operations job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry.  It is aligned to defined roles including Tunnel Road Operator and Open Road Operator.

This qualification is supported by the industry association, Australian Tunnel Operations Group (ATOG). Currently, Into Training Australia is the only Registered Training Organisation approved to deliver this qualification.

 
More tunnels are being planned and constructed in Australia now than ever before to overcome increasing urban congestion. Tunnels are complicated to operate and maintain because they require precise plans and procedures to reduce the interruption of traffic flow. They also have unique safety challenges due to limited accessibility and their subterranean nature. Collaboration between stakeholders, and effective training is imperative to ensure the risk of incident can be mitigated and efficiently addressed should it arise. This qualification is supported by the industry association, Australian Tunnel Operations Group (ATOG).

This is a qualification for those engaged in in traffic operations job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry.  It involves a broad range of skilled applications including requirements to evaluate and analyse current practices, to develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices, and to provide leadership and guidance to others in applying skills and planning skill development.  It is aligned to defined roles including Tunnel Road Operator and Open Road Operator.

Currently, Into Training Australia is the only Registered Training Organisation approved to deliver this qualification.  Due to the equipment and systems required to meet the qualification requirements, this qualification is only available to be delivered to Learners employed within the industry, On The Job.
 
The course is a total of 14 units of competency comprising of:
  • 11 core units
  • 1 specialist elective unit applicable to the job role (Tunnel or Open Road Operator)
  • 2 general elective units
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Nationally recognised qualification: TLI42516 - Certificate IV in Traffic Operations.

  • TLIF5020 Manage emergencies
  • TLIJ3002 Apply quality systems
  • TLIK2010 Use infotechnology devices in the workplace
  • TLIU1009 Monitor plant and equipment in an environmentally sustainable manner

  • TLIF4070 Operate fire and life safety systems within a road tunnel
  • TLIF3085 Apply local incident response procedures
  • TLIF4108 Implement traffic management plan in the transport industry
