This Nationally recognised course is designed to deliver training for the six accredited units that are required by RMS for people who are applying to become a Heavy Vehicle Escort Driver in NSW.
The course includes the Units: TLIC3010, TLIE3009, TLIF0075, TLIF3013, TLIF3060, TLID3002

Heavy Vehicle Escorts play a key role in maintaining road safety and property protection in the movement of oversize and/or over mass loads throughout New South Wales.
From 1 July 2016, NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) began managing a new Oversize and/or Over Mass (OSOM) Escort Vehicle Drivers Scheme. The change aims to provide greater flexibility to the OSOM industry by providing a greater pool of appropriately trained and accredited service providers and authorised escort vehicle drivers to facilitate OSOM moves. It involves everything from route planning to risk assessment and safe driving for long periods of time with varying degrees of sustained and selective attention.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units:
  • Pilot or Escort OSOM Loads
  • Use Pilot and Escort Communication
  • Coordinate Breakdowns and Emergencies
  • Control Traffic as a Pilot Vehicle Operator*
  • Plan & Navigate Routes
  • Demonstrate awareness of interacting with other road users

The Statement of Attainment must be provided to RMS to become an OSOM Escort Driver in NSW.
